Time Management Skills – Hone Them!

As a staffing company owner over the past seven years, I have had a unique vantage point to learn about the problems people face in the ‘New” workforce. I use the word ‘New’ because many businesses have learned to do the same amount of work with far less employees because of the weak economy. This trend will continue for many years to come and the youth of today will have to prepare accordingly. That means more competition for fewer jobs and the salaries will be lower than in years past.

Schlenger, Sunny & Roesch, Roberta. (1990). How to be organized in spite of yourself: Time and space School management system that works with your personal style. New York: Signet Books.

Financial responsibility? Accountability? Not a chance. Management by crisis is the norm. Waste is the rule. The system uses every trick to take more money from taxpayers in order to enlarge itself. For example, smaller classes means more hiring, not better instruction.

Older, boxed software packages are out of date. Online Edulabs software allows itself to evolve because all of the installation and support is right there. New versions update rapidly for you so that you don’t have to worry about being left in the cold with an older, bugged system.

The third phase is mastery. Classroom management is effective. You have high expectations that each of your students will succeed. You are teaching to make a difference. This is a phase you want to reach quickly, and then stay a while.

Studying with others is more fun than studying alone. It can also open your mind to new thoughts and insights. This is especially important when preparing for a career in international business. Try to find opportunities to work with others that have different backgrounds than you do. For example you can study for a course and prepare for your career by working with a student from another country or culture. Not only will you be better prepared for your courses, you will also meet new friends and discover new ways of life.

Point is, you have to find your “personal” life changing book yourself. The only way to do that, is to start reading good management books. So, what are you waiting for? Start today! Please let me know when you have found your life changing book, I am curious.
