If Halloween is the happiest time of year for folks in the Atlanta Underground Club Scene, Halfway to Halloween has to be a close second. It’s six months away from the big day, which makes it a great time to reuse last year’s costume or perhaps test out a new one for this year. This Friday, April 27 is the 3rd Annual Helter Shelter Halfway to Halloween party at The Shelter.
Start out with a game of guessing how many candy pieces are in a jar. To make it easy for the preschool age children, use a small jelly size jar and fill it with larger pieces of candy such as miniature Reese’s peanut butter cups. Have each child try to guess how many pieces are in the jar. Write each answer with the child’s name down. The child who guesses the closest without going over wins the jar and the candy.
Fog is another Halloween essential for me. I use two fog machines, one in the house (I hope that stuff isn’t dangerous) with some windows open for ventilation and one outside to highlight whatever creepy item I feel needs it. Usually the creepy item is a 6 foot tall ghost we like to call “scary big man”. I purchased him at a garden centre and probably paid too much, but he’s going on his 3rd year now and I stand by my purchase. He’s totally cool!
Another great selection is The Addams family theme song. The original television show went on the air in 1964. This song is a classic and is great for any Halloween occasion.
For halloween music you can download popular Halloween songs like Monster Mash and scary sounds for free off the internet click here for my article on the top 10 websites you can find free halloween background music free for your Halloween party. In case you have no room for everyone to stay make sure that you can make arrangements for them to stay at a local hotel that is as close to your home as you can get it. However if everyone is drinking then there is not going to be anyone to take them to the hotel, unless you call the taxi service. Make sure you reserve a room as early as you can at a motel because this is a busy time for them and they might not have rooms available.
Unexpected Scares: Make sure that there are always those ‘unexpected’ scary events at your party – whether before, during or after to spook your guests. With these planned scares, your party will be the talk of the town!
